VTSS

The Virginia Tiered System of Supports integrates academics, behavior, and mental wellness into a single decision-making framework.  The process involves universal screening, tiered (or levels of) intervention strategies, and progress monitoring to meet the needs of students.  The progress of each student is monitored and results are used to make decisions about further instruction or intervention.  


Kate Collins Middle School has begun the VTSS process by focusing first on behavior.  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports promotes positive behaviors through: teaching, modeling, practicing, intervening, and acknowledging students for appropriate behavior.
